My journey into dog training began when I adopted a rescue Border Collie called Smudge 20 years ago, having been surrounded by and owning pets all my life. Smudge was beaten as a pup and then spent 4 months in the rescue kennels because no one wanted him. He had developed a severe case of fear aggression which took me (and my wife) several years to fully conquer. Despite being epileptic, going blind at 10 years old and suffering 2 strokes he enjoyed his 17 years of life competing at agility and becoming the perfect gentleman. Since then I have undertaken to learn as much as I can about canine behaviour, training, competing in and judging agility competitions and helping friends and family with their training requirements.
I am a member of the Institute of Modern Dog Trainers (IMDT) having undergone a rigorous and respected training and assessment process. As an IMDT qualified trainer you can be assured I use only science based, ethical and force free training techniques. My membership also requires me to undertake ongoing training and assessment to continue to offer the very best training and behavioural advice, working within their code of ethics and the aims of the UK Dog Behaviour & Training Charter which guarantees respect for all dogs and their owners.
